The Support First Idea

What is Support First?

Support First™ is the sleep-engineering and buying methodology developed by Kiran Sales Group, maker of Lylax. It means choosing the engineering that supports you before considering surface feel. Feel is how your body greets the mattress; support is how your body thanks it in the morning. The journey is three steps: choose your support system, receive a Calibrated Feel matched to it, then select size and base. We compare the support architecture (stability, adaptive response, movement reduction, edge support, airflow and durability) before firmness ever enters the decision.

Isn’t “firm, medium, plush” enough to go on?

Firm, medium and plush describe surface feel: the immediate sensation you notice in the first few minutes. They don’t tell you how the mattress supports you over years. Two mattresses can both be labelled “firm” and use completely different support architecture underneath, so the label alone isn’t a reliable guide.

Can two people feel the same mattress differently?

Yes. Firmness is experienced through how each body loads and engages the surface, so two people can describe the same mattress differently. That’s why we treat a feel label as a preference guide, not proof of comfort or support.

Do I need to test it in a showroom before buying?

Not necessarily. A five-minute showroom test mainly tells you the immediate surface feel. It can’t demonstrate years of support or durability. Online, you can compare the support architecture, full specification, size, price, delivery terms and warranty before you buy. Feeling a bed is optional; understanding it is essential.

Why does Support First work?

Because it puts the decisions in the order that actually matters. Support is the engineering that has to keep doing its job for years: spring architecture, stability, edge support, durability. Feel is a preference you can express in seconds. Asking a customer to weigh both at once, alongside a wall of models, brands and firmness labels, is exactly the kind of choice that research on decision-making shows makes people less confident, not more. More options don’t automatically mean a better decision when the differences are hard to compare. Support First removes that noise: understand the support system first, let Calibrated Feel be matched to it, then choose size and base. Fewer irrelevant choices, one explained decision.

Can I really buy a mattress like this online?

Yes. Tell us your size and what matters most to you (stronger support, less partner movement, edge stability, adjustable-base compatibility or budget) and we’ll recommend one option with a clear reason, then walk you through support, size and base.

Feel, Comfort and Change Over Time

What does Calibrated Feel mean?

Calibrated Feel is a deliberately balanced surface designed for broad acceptance, used across the Lylax range. It removes the firmness decision so you can focus on choosing your support system. It doesn’t mean every person experiences it identically, and it doesn’t promise universal suitability.

Why is there no firm, medium or plush option?

Lylax uses Calibrated Feel: one carefully engineered, balanced Calibrated Feel per model, so there’s no firmness tier to choose. Firm, medium and plush describe feel, not support quality, so we calibrate the feel to each support system instead of asking you to guess.

Why does the base matter?

Step three of Support First is size and base. An approved base supports the mattress as designed and helps protect ventilation and long-term durability. Choose standard or extra-length to suit your height and room.

Will my mattress feel different after a few months?

Foam and fibre layers can settle naturally with use, and the surface sensation may change a little as a result. That’s normal, and on its own it doesn’t mean the mattress has lost support or has a defect. Under Support First, the more useful question if a mattress starts to feel wrong isn’t “has the feel changed?” It’s “is the support architecture still doing its job?”

Why might a comfortable mattress suddenly feel wrong?

The body can often adjust to a different surface feel, but it can’t adjust to inadequate or deteriorating support. If something feels off after months of comfortable use, it’s worth checking the support system, the base, and any visible impressions, not just assuming the feel has “worn out.”

Does a plush or soft mattress mean less support?

No. Feel and support are two different things. Plush describes the surface sensation; the support system underneath is a separate, engineered layer. A softer surface can still sit above a strong support architecture, and a firm surface doesn’t automatically mean better support.

The Support Systems

What’s the difference between the support systems?

Power Coil is an accessible, reinforced interconnected spring platform. Pocket Coil wraps springs individually so they respond more independently, which can reduce movement transfer. Miracoil® is a continuous-coil architecture built for stable, edge-to-edge support. Power Pocket bridges the two, combining Pocket Coil’s adaptive response with Power Coil’s support characteristics. Best of Both™ combines a responsive mini-pocket layer above a Miracoil® primary support unit: two technologies, two distinct jobs, one system.

Is Best of Both™ just “more springs”?

No. It’s not “twice the springs, twice the support.” The value comes from two different technologies doing two different jobs: a responsive layer that adapts near the body, and a Miracoil® foundation that provides the lasting structural support beneath it.

Do more springs always mean a better mattress?

No. Spring count only matters alongside wire gauge, geometry, height, arrangement and the complete construction. A taller or heavier-looking mattress isn’t automatically more supportive. Ask what each layer is actually doing.

Are springs better than foam?

Foam and fibre genuinely cushion, contour and distribute pressure, and both can offer a degree of support. Our engineering approach uses them mainly to refine feel and the sleep surface, while an innerspring system provides the primary, structured support underneath.

Durability, Care and Warranty

How long should a mattress actually last?

Warranty length isn’t a replacement timetable. Our hygiene-led guidance is to reconsider a single-sided mattress after about five to seven years, and a properly maintained double-sided mattress after about ten to twelve, depending on construction, use, care and environment.

Does a 20-year warranty mean the mattress lasts 20 years?

No. It means cover for specific manufacturing defects can continue for up to that long under the certificate, often with a customer contribution in later years. It isn’t a promise about comfort, hygiene, or how long the mattress should stay in use; see our replacement guidance above for that.

What’s the difference between a warranty and a comfort exchange/return policy?

A comfort exchange or return addresses purchase preference within a time-limited window. A guarantee or warranty covers manufacturing or workmanship defects specifically. They have different timeframes, conditions and remedies. See your product’s warranty certificate and terms of sale for the specifics that apply to it.

Is a single-sided mattress “half a mattress”?

No. It’s an asymmetrical construction engineered around one designated sleep surface, not a cut-down version of a double-sided one. Judge it on its own support architecture, care requirements and value.

Trust and Brand
