Support system descriptions

Power Coil
An engineered interconnected coil system designed to provide stable, consistent support across the mattress. The coil structure forms the foundation of the sleep surface, helping provide dependable support night after night.
Pocket Coil
Individually encased coils that can respond more independently to pressure across the mattress. This allows the support system to adapt more locally to the body while helping reduce the transfer of movement across the sleep surface.
Miracoil®
Serta's continuous coil support system, engineered to provide structured support across the mattress. Its continuous construction is designed to distribute load through the support system and provide a stable foundation for the comfort layers above.
Power Pocket
A pocket-based support system that combines responsive pocket coils with a reinforced foundation, where specified for the model. The feel layers and support architecture are configured to respond together.
Best of Both™
A hybrid support approach that brings together complementary spring technologies within one engineered support system. It is designed to combine structured underlying support with more responsive, individualised movement closer to the body.
Foam / No Coil System
A foam-based mattress uses its foam construction as both the comfort and structural foundation rather than a dedicated coil support system. Under Support First, this should be clearly distinguished from mattresses built around an engineered spring support system.

Why Support Comes First

Feel is what you notice first. Support is what your body relies on. Every Bed Studio mattress is chosen support-system first: the engineered structure that keeps your spine aligned and holds its shape, night after night, for years.

Inside This Mattress

Every good night's sleep starts with the right support. At Bed Studio we believe the support system should be chosen before the feel. Support keeps your spine aligned, distributes body weight and helps maintain lasting comfort night after night. Once you've chosen the support system that's right for your body, you simply choose the feel you prefer: Firm, Medium or Plush with Serta, or one balanced Calibrated Feel™ with Lylax. Feel is what you notice first. Support is what your body relies on for years.

Full engineering specifications for this range (coil systems, comfort layers, foundation and warranty) are being finalised. Choose your support system above; our team can confirm the exact build for your size before dispatch.

How the Support Systems Compare

Firm, Medium and Plush describe feel. They don't describe how well a mattress supports you. This is how the engineered support systems compare, low to high.

Why we don’t recommend foam or fibre as a core: they make good comfort layers, but as a support core they compress under pressure, retain heat and fatigue faster than a spring system.

A qualitative comparison of support-system design, assuming comparable mattress quality. Comfort layers, materials and overall construction also influence real-world performance. “Recommended” reflects the Support-First philosophy, not a judgement of any individual mattress.
